Dr Paul Odula is a senior consultant surgeon with over 20 years of experience and a research scientist. He is a member of AAR\u2019s credentialing and recategorization committee, the inaugural Chair of the Council of Chairs of Surgical Specialties in Kenya, and the clinical head of the department of surgery at AAR Hospital.<\/p>\n
As a senior lecturer at the University of Nairobi and the current Lead of the Human Anatomy Strategic Program Area, Dr. Paul Odula has taught over 10,000 medical students. He has also supervised and trained many renowned medical specialists at five different medical schools in three African countries.<\/p>\n
Dr. Odula became a Fellow of the College of Surgeons of East, Central and Southern Africa FCS (COSECSA) in 2001. He graduated in 2015 with a PhD in Human Anatomy from the University of Nairobi and was awarded an MMed degree in General Surgery from Makerere University, Uganda, in 1999. He received his MBChB and BSc Anatomy (1st<\/sup> Class honors) from the University of Nairobi in 1994 and 1990, respectively.<\/p>\n As a clinician, he is conversant and competent in utilizing new technologies such as Laparoscopy and is very versatile with intraoperative energy devices. His current clinical interests include goitre surgery, hernia surgery and Laser therapy for treating common anal problems like haemorrhoids.<\/p>\n Among his many interests on the research front, Dr Odula has published over 50 peer-reviewed articles, which have over 510 citations to date and over 19,600 reads, giving an h-index of 14. He is quoted by Researchgate.net as having a Research Interest Score that is higher than 84% of ResearchGate members.
