{"id":408,"date":"2022-12-16T15:40:27","date_gmt":"2022-12-16T15:40:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev.underscore.co.ke\/jla\/?p=408"},"modified":"2023-07-23T20:32:58","modified_gmt":"2023-07-23T17:32:58","slug":"technology-for-climate-action-hackathon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/site.zuricode.com\/jla\/technology-for-climate-action-hackathon\/","title":{"rendered":"Technology for Climate Action Hackathon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jacob\u2019s Ladder Africa, in collaboration with <a href=\"https:\/\/moringaschool.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Moringa School<\/a>, held a Technology for Climate Hackathon, in December 2022 which challenged young people to develop innovative tech-based solutions to address the contributors and impacts of climate change in the country.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wara Farm<\/strong> emerged as the winner for their artificial intelligence (AI) powered solution to mitigate inefficiencies in food supply chains to address food insecurity in the country. The solution decentralizes supply chain processes and increases farmers\u2019 access to information and tools they require to improve their outputs.<\/p>\n<p>The second and third place awards were won by <strong>Okoa Waste<\/strong>, which seeks to provide urban waste management solutions, followed by <strong>Kambare<\/strong>, which aims to close the gap in access to high-quality and affordable aqua feeds, respectively. Select teams from the hackathon were enrolled into Jacob\u2019s Ladder Africa incubator, which will help them develop their ideas into profitable solutions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe brilliant ideas presented by the different teams that participated in the hackathon aligns with our belief that African youth can be the engine for innovation on the continent.
