Gede Ruins

Itinerary

Pick up from your hotel/ residence and drive to Gede, the ancient ruins, not far from Watamu.

Enter a rich vegetation of baobab trees, where you are greeted by the funny monkeys that live here and to which you can bring bananas to eat.

Visit the remains of large water cisterns that fed the city, the two fences of concentric defensive walls, the great mosque, the sumptuous sultan’s palace with the remains of some tombs and the remains of numerous buildings housing, some of which still bear the architectural traces of Venetian rule.

We continue with the visit of the site entering its museum, to admire valuable objects from all over the world: Chinese vases, coins from various European countries, an Indian lamp, porcelain objects from Persia, Chinese porcelain from the Ming dynasty, Venetian beads , Spanish scissors
